Generally, in impact and penetration tests, projectiles are shooting in a controlled and directive manner, but after the perforation stage, the projectile would be deviated from its initial straight direction and measuring the velocity in such unpredictable directions always has been a challenging task. DBM has developed a residual velocity meter apparatus which provides two laser beam curtain to sense the moving objects in their deviated trajectories and capture the residual velocity. By informing about the projectiles’ initial and residual speeds, the absorbed kinetic energy by target could be estimated.
