The University of Technology has three significant areas of education and research in the field of petroleum engineering. The university's activities in this field began in 2003. In this year, master's degree students in petroleum engineering (reservoir orientation) were accepted at this university. In the following years, master's degree students in petroleum engineering were also accepted in the drilling, exploitation and oil exploration orientations. Then, after obtaining the necessary permits, admission of doctoral students in petroleum engineering was also carried out at the university. The first doctoral student graduated in 2012. Continuing the development of the petroleum engineering field in the Sahand industry, the undergraduate course in petroleum engineering also began at this university in 2014.
